New Realizations
"Ana, no! Let her sleep! Ana! Why do you insist on waking her up?" I heard Kain yelling.
"Kain, I found out that those vampires that came here are after her! The one that killed her mom wants to take her blood as well!" Ana's voice was quite frantic.
"What are the names of the vampires, Ana?" I asked, making them both stare.
"Kyle Yoru is the only one I know. He's the leader." Ana answered me.
"Kyle... ah, shit!" I sighed. "Kyle is after me because he loves me. I think that's it." I sighed. "Wait. Oh! There's more. He loves me because he was once about to be attacked by some kid who was stronger than he was and I stopped the kid. Kyle was weak because he was born premature and there was something else, but I forgot what it was. I felt so bad for him! He was so nice, but everyone picked on him and hurt him! I thought it was unfair, so I kept telling everyone to be nice to him. Everyone always listened to me. I don't know why though. It is kind of odd, but it is nice that people almost always listen to me no matter what it is that I tell them to do. But, that's it, I think." I suddenly started to cry, though I did not know why. Kain pulled me close to him.
"It's okay. He won't be able to hurt you." Kain supposed softly.
"That's not something that I'm worried about. He loves me too much. That's what I'm worried about."
"Oh. That is something to worry about at least a little."
"I know."
"Well, you two stay in here. The rest of us..." Ana stopped, being interrupted by me.
"Rest of us? Who else is here?"
"Our family." Kain smiled as three other vampires walked in. There were two males and a woman. The woman smiled softly at me. She had long black hair like Ana's, but it was straight. Her eyes were a beautiful blue color. She was about five foot tall and quite skinny. I thought she could be a model if she wanted to.
"I'm Maria. You must be Tallya. It is so very nice to meet you."
One of the men smiled at me also. He had messy blonde hair and blue-green eyes. He was muscular, but not anywhere near as muscular as Kain was. "I'm Will, Kains brother. He talks about you so much, I was going crazy not having met you." He laughed slightly.
The other man walked over to me. He had black hair and green eyes. He looked like he could have been Ana's father when they were human. They did look a lot alike. He was of medium height and build. He also had a mustache. "I can tell you've been through a lot. I'm sorry. It's our fault for wanting to fit in with humans, rather than being just like other vampires."
"Cole! Don't talk like that!" Maria said quickly.
"Oh, no. This, I believe, is my fault." I told them about Kyle and I having been great friends and what all had happened.
"Wow. He's in love just because you have a kind heart? That's odd, but it's okay. We won't let him see you. That way he doesn't find out about you and Kain and want to kill him or something." Cole assured me.
"Okay. Thanks."
They all left the room and I realized I was scared. I was not scared for myself, but for the others.
"I'm so sorry. Oh so sorry. I should have thought about having Ana or Will protect your mom, but I didn't. I'm so sorry." Kain apologized sympathetically.
"Kain, don't apologize. You did nothing wrong," I hugged him, "and you needn't apologize."
"I didn't protect you, not from losing your mother anyways. I should have made sure that she was just as safe as you were. That's what I did wrong and why I must apologize."
"Kain, you were worried about me. You did protect me. You were just so worried about me that you could not have possibly thought about anything else except keeping me safe at the time. It's not at all your fault. My mom kind of wanted to die anyways."
"Tallya, please. Please. Understand this. I love you and I should have protected your mom or made sure she was protected. Again, I'm sorry. I will not quit apologizing until you accept my apologies."
"Oh, well, fine. I accept your apologies."
"Okay." He kissed me lovingly. "Have I ever told you how gorgeous you are?"
"Yes, but I adore hearing you say how beautiful I am."
"Well, you are the absolute most gorgeous young woman I know." He kissed me again, this time more lovingly than before.
"Oh, Kain." I sighed. "You're too sweet."
"So are you." He kissed me again and again, always gently, always lovingly.
Ana walked into the room. She looked terrible. "We're losing. They're going to find you guys after they somehow finish us." She told us.
"No!" I bolted out of the room and down the stairs. "Kyle! Stop this all right this damn instant!"
The vampires both froze in place. Kyle had red hair and blue eyes. He was tall, maybe about 6 feet tall. He wasn't very muscular, but I knew he was strong. The other vampire had silver hair and eyes. He wasn't very tall, but he was muscular. I shuddered as I looked at him.
"Tallya. I'm glad you show your lovely face now. I was really not enjoying the thought that I would have to kill other vampires." Kyle said cruelly, making me tremble.
"Well then. You're welcome. So why are you here? To take me with you to my own death? To turn me into a vampire? That'd be my death. You know it! You know I don't love you as any more than a brother!"
"Really? Oh, come on Tallya. I know you love me more than that!" He lunged towards me, and hugged me.
"Tell me you're not in love with some other vampire? Please tell me you aren't in love with another guy."
"Actually, she is." Kain said from behind me.
"No! Oh, fine. I guess I do only love you as a sister, Tallya. I'm sorry I got myself so confused."
"Oh, well... Good. I accept the apology." I smiled softly at him.
"Well, he can only stay for the night. I know he needs a place to stay, but it won't be here!" Kain suddenly yelled.
"Why not?" I asked.
"He loves you!"
"Only as a sister!"
"No! He loves you!"
"He doesn't!" I ran out, crying.
"Tallya!" Kain followed after me, worried about me quite a bit.
"Leave me alone! Kyle loves me like a sister! That's all!" I screamed, running towards the forest.
"Tallya!" Kain grabbed my arm, but I pulled away, running still. "Tallya!"
I kept running. "I said, leave me alone!"
"No! Why would I leave you alone? I love you too much to let you be alone right now! If I leave you alone, you might get hurt and I don't want that to happen! You are such a silly girl to think I'd ever leave you alone like this!"
"I said to leave me alone. I mean it! I need time to think by myself!" I ran into the snowy forest. The trees were all coniferous. They were all so covered with snow, too. I thought it was oh so beautiful.
"Tallya! Please don't make me have to force you back to the house! You really don't want to make me have to do that! I don't want to have to pick you up and just take you right back to the house!"
"You wouldn't do that! I know you wouldn't! You love me too much to force me to do anything I don't want to do and we both know it!"
"I would to do that! If it's to keep you safe, I don't care if you want me to or not!"
"Kain! Just go home! I'll be there soon enough!"
"Fine!" He stalked back towards the house.
I kept walking, humming to myself. I saw something in front of me. "Who's there?"
"You don't know me. I'm Tau. And I want your blood!" The person answered. It was the vampire from before, the one who had been with Kyle.
"Why? You're Kyle's friend. He wouldn't want you to harm me."
"You smell tasty. I can't help it."
"No... There has to be a better reason."
"Well, I did taste your mothers blood..."
"No! Kyle wouldn't want you to kill her! So why did you?"
"I accidentally hurt her and her blood just smelled so great that I had to feed off of her! Your blood smells the same. All humans have the same blood scent as their mother." He smiled evilly, his fangs appearing. I backed away.
"That's interesting. Just... Don't come near me..." I struggled to keep my voice from wavering to show him how afraid I was.
"Oh, but you smell so wonderfully delectable!" He lunged towards me and I closed my eyes, waiting for his fangs to sink into my neck. Nothing happened. I opened my eyes and saw a prince protecting me just before I passed out from having been so scared.
"Tallya!" I heard someone yell. I woke up.
"What?" I asked.
"You're okay... That's great. How do you feel?" Kain was holding me in his arms and I was lying on the couch in his room, well sort of.
"Tired..."
"Then, sleep, my love. Sleep." He whispered, caressing my cheek gently and lovingly.
"Would you sing a lullaby?"
"Of course." He began to sing a lullaby to me softly and beautifully.
